Bi-LED Projector Headlights · Nissan Patrol GU Y61 Series 4–8 · 2004–2016
Factory GU headlights were built for 2004.
Your night driving shouldn't be.
The GU Patrol is one of the best 4WDs ever built. Its headlights are not. Scattered halogen output, faded lenses and a beam that barely reaches the next corner — on dark outback roads that's a real problem. These bi-LED projector assemblies replace the entire headlight unit with focused projector output, integrated DRL and sequential indicators — plug straight into the factory H4 connector, bolt into the factory mount.
Why Projector Beats a Bulb Swap
The difference that justifies the price
Factory Halogen Reflector
Light scatters in all directions
No defined cut-off line
Glare for oncoming drivers
Short forward throw
Faded, yellowed lenses
Bi-LED Projector (This Kit)
Lens focuses beam precisely
Sharp horizontal cut-off line
Reduced glare for oncoming
Up to 3× longer forward throw
Fresh smoked lens, sealed housing

A cheap H4 LED bulb dropped into a reflector housing still scatters light the same way — just brighter and more glaring for oncoming drivers. Projector optics are what control the beam. That's the actual upgrade.

What You're Getting
Full replacement assemblies — not a conversion kit
Plug & Play H4 Connector
Connects directly to the factory GU H4 plug. Unplug the old, plug in the new — no rewiring, no auto electrician, no coding.
Built-In Resistors
Pre-installed in the assembly. Prevents the canbus errors and dash warning lights that plague cheap LED conversions on the GU. Not an add-on — it's handled.
Sealed & Ventilated Housings
Dust and moisture resistant. Controlled internal ventilation balances pressure and minimises condensation — no fogging, no water intrusion on river crossings or wet tracks.
Sequential Indicators + DRL
Indicators flow outward on each flash, and the integrated DRL bar wires to park lights or ignition. Built into the housing — the OEM+ look most GU owners want.
UV-Stable Smoked Lens
Won't yellow or haze in Australian sun. The reason factory GU lenses look terrible after a decade of Queensland or WA summers — this won't.
Vibration-Resistant Internals
Internal mounts built for corrugated dirt roads. No rattles, no LED failures from the kind of vibration GUs take on outback tracks.

Installs in 60–90 Minutes
No rewiring. No coding. Basic tools only.
1
Remove the factory headlights
Unclip the factory H4 connector. Remove the retaining bolts — typically 3 per side. Factory headlight pulls straight out.
2
Seat the new assemblies
New headlights bolt directly into factory mounting points. Same holes, same bolts — no modification, no brackets.
3
Connect the H4 plug
Factory H4 connector plugs straight into the included wiring harness. That's the main connection done.
4
Wire the DRL (optional)
Connect the DRL lead to park lights for always-on, or ignition for key-on. Both options shown in the included wiring guide.
5
Adjust beam height
Fine-tune with the adjuster screws — aim for the horizon at 10m. Step-by-step included. Aim too high and you're dazzling oncoming traffic.

Common Questions
Straight answers
Will I get a canbus error or dash warning light?
No. Built-in resistors are pre-installed in the assembly — specifically to prevent this. It's the most common problem with cheap LED conversions on the GU and it's handled before the kit even ships.
Will the housings fog up inside?
These housings use controlled ventilation to manage internal pressure — the same principle used in quality OEM headlights. Minor temporary condensation after a cold night is normal and clears when the lights warm up. Persistent fogging or water intrusion is covered under the 12-month warranty.
How do I know if I have Series 4–8 or Series 1–3?
Series 4 starts from April 2004. Check your compliance plate on the driver's door jamb — it shows the build date. Anything from 04/2004 onwards is Series 4+. If you're between 1997 and 2004, these won't fit — contact us and we'll point you to the right option.
Can I wire the DRL to run with the ignition instead of park lights?
Yes. The included wiring guide covers both options — park light connection for always-on DRL, or ignition connection for key-on only. Either works, it's just your preference.
Do I need an auto electrician to install these?
No. The H4 plug-and-play connection means the main electrical connection is a simple plug swap. The DRL wire is the only additional connection and it's clearly covered in the guide. Most GU owners who've never done headlights before complete the install in under 90 minutes.
Are these legal to run on Australian public roads?
These are not ADR approved — see the full ADR section below for a complete explanation. Many GU owners run them on-road, but it's your responsibility to check your state's vehicle standards and your insurer before fitting them to a registered vehicle. Message us if you have specific questions before ordering.

The difference between factory halogen and a true bi-LED projector isn't just brightness — it's where the light actually goes. A focused beam with a sharp cut-off puts usable light on the road ahead, not scattered into the eyes of oncoming drivers. This is what your first night drive looks like.
Beam height is fully adjustable via the factory adjuster screws. Step-by-step guide included.
