The Elite has its own internet. Your phone stays in your pocket.
Drop a data SIM into the head unit and it runs its own 4G connection — independent of your phone. No hotspot, no battery drain, no dead spot when the phone loses signal. When you're 300km up the Gibb with no signal, the Elite is still pulling maps and logging your track. The Essentials is waiting for a hotspot that doesn't exist.

Common questions
Does it work with my steering wheel controls?
Yes — SWC compatible. If your N70 has factory steering wheel controls, they keep working straight away. If yours doesn't have factory SWC (not all N70s do — it varies by year and grade), you can add an aftermarket SWC adaptor. Jump on live chat and we'll confirm what your build has and point you to the right adaptor if needed.
Will my air conditioning controls still work?
Yes — the head unit only replaces the radio. Your dash AC controls (auto or manual climate) are completely separate and unaffected. Nothing changes there.
What's the real difference between Essentials and Elite?
Both have identical features — CarPlay, GPS, Android apps, SWC compatibility. The Elite has more RAM (smoother), more storage (4×), and a built-in 4G SIM slot so the head unit has its own internet independent of your phone. Essentials uses your phone hotspot. If you tour seriously, the 4G SIM is the one that matters.
Will it cause dash warning lights?
The included wiring harness is designed to prevent canbus errors on the N70 Hilux. If you have any issues after install, message us on live chat and we'll sort it.
I already have a reverse camera fitted. Will it still work?
Yes — compatible with factory and aftermarket cameras. Your existing camera auto-activates on reverse. The add-on camera at checkout is only needed if you don't have one fitted.
Will this void my vehicle warranty?
The install is fully reversible — original parts unplug and refit exactly as they were. Under Australian Consumer Law a modification can only affect warranty on parts directly related to it. Your drivetrain and mechanical components are not affected.
What's the returns policy?
30-day returns on unused, unopened items — store credit issued. Faulty unit? We cover return shipping and replace or refund under the 12-month warranty. Full policy here.
